Guidelines for Guest Editors

1. THEMES: Acceptable themes for guest-edited issues include [but are not limited to]: Peircean semiotics, biosemiotics, cybersemiotics, cybernetics, autopoiesis, self-organizing systems, Batesonian and second-order cybernetics, complex adaptive systems (CAS), and systems theory. Contact the editor, Carlos Vidales ( to propose a guest-edited issue.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES: Contributing editors provide the main body of text for the issue: for a single issue approximately 80 pages of text; for a double issue approximately 160 pages of text. A page of text (excluding figures and tables) is approximately 530 words and contributions are usually between 5,000 and 8,000 words.
