- Featured Artist
Claudia Jacques, a Brazilian-American interdisciplinary technoetic artist, designer, educator, and researcher based in NYC is this special anniversary issue featured artist. Exploring photography, video, installation, sound, interactive and net art, she has shown her work in the US and abroad in both solo and group exhibitions. Her aim as artist is to construct experiences in consciousness to promote the expansion of human knowledge and her research focus is on information in Human-Computer Interactions through the lens of Cybersemiotics.
Here, Jacques presents her photographic series Grief, capturing and sharing glimpses of joy amidst the universe's offerings, as a poignant reminder of love's vastness, even in the face of the ephemeral nature of life and the pain of losing her oldest son, Roger Cardoso, to Testicular Cancer on June 10, 2023. This series also celebrates, in his absence, Brier's joy and kindness as a mentor and friend.
Jacques holds a Ph.D. and M.F.A. and is an adjunct associate professor of art and design at City University of New York, Bronx Communirty College and State University of New York, Westchester Community College. She is the founder and Creative Director of Knowledge Art Studios; serves as associate editor for Cybernetics and Human Knowing Journal; is a member of the Editorial Organism of Technoetic Arts Journal; as well as a member of the UCLA Art|Sci Collective.
